If you deem a security in your account to be worthless, it has no market value and it is no longer trading on a recognized stock exchange, you may choose to have it removed from your RBC Direct Investing Investment account.
Contact an investment services representative at 1-800-769-2560. Provide your account number and the stock you wish to have removed and we will forward you a Worthless Security Removal letter for your signature. Please be advised that once a worthless security is removed from your account, it cannot be reinstated, even if it regains value or commences to trade again. For information regarding the tax treatment of the disposal of a worthless security, we recommend that you consult with your personal tax advisor.
Registered account procedures for the removal of worthless securities differ considerably from those for investment accounts. Please contact us at 1-800-769-2560 if you require further information.
