The speed of market activity is higher than ever before, which is why it’s becoming increasingly important to understand and respond to new developments as they’re happening.
A number of exciting new enhancements were introduced to help you, meet your investment goals by enabling you to stay on top of the markets and by giving you access to top-notch tools, information and resources.
In addition to an intuitive and user-friendly site navigation, you can now look forward to some impressive new features and tools designed to enhance your online investing experience and make the RBC Direct Investing site truly world-class.
New and Enhanced Site Features Include:
A Community Outlook
A brand-new “Community” feature will monitor and filter various online sources for discussions and information relevant to investors. The information will then be sorted and categorized by “theme” and “ticker” — based on numbers of hits, shared links and blogs. You’ll be able to:
| • | Investigate various sources of news and identify factors causing price movements |
| • | Consolidate a variety of information sources, including blogs, in one place |
| • | Read unique perspectives from credible sources |
This new feature, unique to RBC Direct Investing, will be particularly useful to find information about smaller companies that may have been overlooked by some of the more traditional media outlets.
Sectors and Industries
“Sectors & Industries” offers the market equivalent of a zoom lens on a camera. Start with a sector, like technology, and view activity over a period of five days, three months or a year. Zoom in a little closer and look at the particular industries supporting that sector – in this case, communications equipment, computer hardware, etc. Find full industry overviews, performance and fundamentals, as well as the number of companies within an industry. Zoom in closer still for a comprehensive breakdown of the stocks of the various companies feeding the parent industry and their respective movements – essential for understanding and taking advantage of sector rotations.
Easy Access to Standard & Poor’s (S&P) Model Portfolios
View various model portfolios, along with historical performance and additions and deletions over the past four weeks. Get year-to-date performance comparisons and compare your own holdings to a given portfolio. In addition to providing in-depth technical analysis, S&P’s Model Portfolios also indicate which stocks – Canadian or US – have been up- or down-graded in the last week, with previous and new ratings as determined by S&P or Thomson Consensus.
