Commission-free trading of select ETFs!

ETF trading has increased on the RBC Direct Investing platform, rising from 12% of all trades in 2020 to 20% since June 2024. Whether you’re just getting started or looking to add to your portfolio, RBC Direct Investing has the tools to help you find what you need.

There’s now a selection of over 50 ETFs available to trade commission-free on the RBC Direct Investing platform. This selection offers a wide range of ETFs that can support your investment strategy and provide exposure to various markets and asset classes.

Say Goodbye to Mutual Fund Commissions

You know that 1% commission fee (up to $50) you pay when buying mutual funds? It’s officially a thing of the past.

You can now trade both actively and passively managed mutual funds on the RBC Direct Investing platform completely commission-free.1

No More Quarterly Maintenance Fees

Good news, RBC Direct Investing is no longer charging a quarterly maintenance fee on RBC Direct Investing accounts, no matter what your account balance is.

This change is part of our ongoing effort to make self-directed investing more accessible, and to reduce the cost of getting started.

It’s one small way we’re removing barriers for investors at every stage.

By now you might have seen our updated online Direct Investing home page, designed to provide you with a more intuitive and convenient way to stay on top of your portfolio and market trends. There are now even more changes! Here’s what to look out for:

Cash view is back! You’ll once again be able to see your cash breakdown at a glance. Simply click on your cash balance to view the amount in each of your accounts.

Choose which account to display. If you have Trading Authority, you’ll now be able to flip between accounts using a drop-down menu, allowing you to easily differentiate between your own accounts and those you manage.
Customizable market snapshot – to help you stay on top of market trends, choose what markets and indices appear.

Take your investments beyond borders and discover new opportunities to grow and diversify your portfolio with RBC Direct Investing – the only bank-owned brokerage in Canada offering online international trading to all clients.
