If you're looking for a tax slip or need a replacement copy, you can now choose to access your RBC Direct Investing tax documents in PDF as soon as they become available.
To switch to electronic delivery:
Once you switch to electronic delivery, you will no longer receive printed copies in the mail.
Note that certain tax documents are not available online. Please contact us at 1-800-769-2560 if you need access to the following:
Alternatively, You may also request a duplicate tax slip by sending us a secure message. From My Portfolio, select "Message Centre" or click the "Messages" link at the top of your Home page. Please include the name of the specific tax slip you are looking for. If you are requesting a copy of a T3 / R16, please specify the issuer.

To join the RBC Direct Investing® Community1 visit the Community section of the online investing site and follow the instructions on the page.
Transfer funds from my RBC Royal Bank® account to my RBC Direct Investing account
From the Transfer Cash page under My Portfolio, use the dropdown menus to transfer funds between your RBC Direct Investing accounts and any RBC Royal Bank accounts (CDN to CDN or U.S. to U.S.) connected to your RBC Client Card.
Funds transferred TO your RBC Direct Investing account will be available immediately when the request is made between 4:30 a.m. and 7:54 p.m. ET, seven days a week. If the transfer is requested after 7:54 p.m., the funds will be available in your RBC Direct Investing account by 4:30 a.m. This applies to cash, margin, RRSP and TFSA accounts.
Funds transferred FROM your RBC Direct Investing account will be available immediately when the request is made between 9 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday (except holidays). If the transfer is requested outside of these hours, the funds will be available in your RBC Royal Bank account by 9 a.m. the next business day. This applies to cash and margin accounts only.

Transfer my investment accounts to RBC Direct Investing
Use the transfer form in the RBC Direct Investing site to transfer accounts from other financial institutions. Here's how you do it:
On the Transfer in from Another Institution page under My Portfolio, select the type of account you wish to transfer into. If you are transferring your investment, registered retirement, or TFSA accounts, you'll be presented with the automated Online Transfer forms. For RESPs and pension accounts, you'll be presented with a PDF of this form. Please complete the appropriate form, making sure to provide all of the required information.
Transfers within RBC can take anywhere from three to seven days. Transfers from other institutions can take two to six weeks.

Qualify for low trade commissions
All RBC Direct Investing clients enjoy a low commission of $9.95 flat CDN or U.S. for each online and mobile equity trade with no minimum balance or trading requirements.2
Plus, clients who trade 150 or more times per quarter will automatically qualify for a flat commission rate of $6.95 CDN or U.S. per equity trade.2

Open a new RBC Direct Investing account
The quickest and easiest way to open a new RBC Direct Investing Investment, RRSP, TFSA or RRIF account is through the online investing site. Here's how you do it:
The interactive online application form is the most convenient and easiest way to open an account. You'll receive step-by-step instructions guiding you through the account application process. Plus, you can also open multiple accounts in the same online session. And as an RBC Direct Investing client, you can submit most applications online. With our eSignature feature, you don't have to sign and mail the application.
Please note that you need Adobe Reader 9.0 or higher and Internet Explorer 6 or higher to complete the online application form.
Update my address
You can update your address online, by phone or by mail. Here's how you do it:
1. Click "Edit Profile" at the top right section of any page or select "Edit Profile & Preferences" under My Portfolio.
2. Select the "Change your Client Profile" link.
3. Fill out the form and click "submit".
Although you certainly may give us a post office box number as your mailing address, Canadian securities regulations require that you also provide us with a permanent street address for our records.

Set up a Pre-Authorized Contribution Plan (PAC)
If you have an RBC Royal Bank chequing or savings account and as long as your account is linked to your RBC Direct Investing account, simply:
If you would like to set up a Pre-Authorized Contribution Plan with an account held outside of RBC Royal Bank for your RBC Direct Investing RRSP, TFSA or RESP, please download the Pre-Authorized Contribution Plan form. Once you have completed the form, you may send it to RBC Direct Investing or drop the form off at any RBC Direct Investing Investor Centre or your local RBC Royal Bank branch.
Sign up for an Automatic Investment Plan (AIP)
Save regularly and automatically by pre-arranging to purchase your choice of mutual funds for your RBC Direct Investing RRSP, TFSA, RESP or investment account, paid for from your chequing or savings account at any Canadian financial institution.
To sign up for an Automatic Investment Plan, please download and complete the Automatic Investment Plan form and send it to RBC Direct Investing at the address or fax number indicated on the form. If you’d prefer, you may drop the form off at any RBC Direct Investing Investor Centre or your local RBC Royal Bank branch.
Remove a de-listed stock from my account
Sometimes a security may stop trading on a recognized exchange and is deemed worthless. If this happens to one of your securities you can have it removed from your RBC Direct Investing account. (You can also, of course, keep the security on your account, if that's what you'd prefer.)
To remove a worthless security from your account, please complete our Worthless Security Checklist. You can download and submit it from the "Forms & Agreements" page under My Portfolio.
Select the form that corresponds to your account type, either non-registered or registered.
Once a security is removed from your account record as worthless it cannot be reinstated even if it regains value or starts to trade again.
For information on the tax treatment of the disposal of worthless securities, we recommend that you ask your personal tax advisor.
