Fund transfers in CAD or USD from an RBC Royal Bank account to your RBC Direct Investing account using RBC Online Banking, Direct Investing Online Investing, or the RBC Mobile app are processed in real time between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 6:55 p.m. ET, seven days a week. Transfers into an RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the following day. Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account (Locked-in, Registered Retirement Income Fund, and Registered Education Savings Plan accounts excluded) to an RBC Royal Bank account are processed in real-time between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday (excluding Canadian holidays). Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the next business day.

When you enrol your eligible RBC personal bank account into the RBC Value Program, you will be eligible to earn Avion points within the Avion Rewards Program as an Eligible Personal Banking Client, and any such points earned will be deposited into the Avion Rewards account tied to your enrolled account. Purchases from your account refers to using your RBC Client Card to pay for items at a merchant or service provider with the amount electronically debited directly from your enrolled account or using your RBC Virtual Visa Debit for purchases online. Avion points are governed by the Avion Rewards Terms and Conditions available on our website, or a copy may be provided to you by contacting us. By enrolling an eligible RBC personal bank account into the RBC Value Program, holding eligible additional RBC products (“Product Categories”, as more particularly described below), and completing certain activities from your enrolled account each month (as more particularly described below), you may be entitled to receive a partial or full rebate of your enrolled account’s standard Monthly Fee. Eligible Product Categories include RBC personal credit cards, personal investments, residential mortgages, and linked small business relationships. Multiple products in a single Product Category will be considered one Product Category. In addition to having eligible Product Categories, you must also perform any two (2) or more of the following specified account activities in the previous calendar month to or from your enrolled account: a monthly direct deposit, a monthly pre-authorized payment, or an eligible bill payment made at minimum once per month. An eligible bill payment means a bill payment completed through either RBC Online Banking, the RBC Mobile app, using an RBC ATM, or using Telephone Banking Services, and excludes any bill payment made: (i) in-person at an RBC Royal Bank branch with an RBC Advisor, (ii) to an RBC credit card account, or (iii) using an RBC Virtual Visa Debit® associated with your Enrolled Account. The Avion Rewards program is offered by Royal Bank of Canada and is subject to the Avion Rewards Terms & Conditions (opens in new window). You may only use your Avion points through RBC DI to: (1) pay for Canadian or U.S. equity trade commissions on your eligible RBC Direct Investing accounts; or (2) transfer points for cash contributions in CAD to your eligible RBC Direct Investing accounts. It is your responsibility to make sure you have sufficient contribution room within your registered plan when redeeming points for cash contributions in CAD to your registered accounts and/or when you use your Avion points to pay for Canadian or U.S. equity trade commissions on a registered account. The Canada Revenue Agency may apply tax penalties for over-contributions. RBC Direct Investing is not responsible for any such penalties.

Clients who make 30 or more equity/options trades per quarter qualify for our Active Trader program. Quarterly trading activity of clients will be reviewed on a monthly basis on the 22nd of every month. Clients must re-qualify on a monthly basis for Active Trader status to stay in effect. Clients will qualify based on the eligible trading activity from the previous three calendar months (e.g. total trades count from September 1 to November 30, with Active Trader status going into effect on December 22). A trade is defined as a stock, exchange-traded fund (ETF) or option order for which a commission has been charged.

Level 2 quotes are available on stocks and ETFs that trade on the TSX and TSX-Venture exchanges for all clients. Level 2 quotes are also available on stocks and ETFs that trade on the Canadian Securities Exchange and Nasdaq for Active Trader clients upon accepting the terms and conditions of all exchange agreements on the RBC Direct Investing online investing site.

Royal Distinction is a membership program available from RBC Direct Investing. Membership in Royal Distinction is available exclusively to holders of an RBC Direct Investing account who have at least CAD $3 million with RBC Direct Investing for at least 4 consecutive calendar months. Members of the program are assigned a dedicated Relationship Manager who can provide one-on-one support. Membership will expire if you no longer hold an RBC Direct Investing account, or if you do not meet the minimum qualifying balance requirement of CAD $3 million for 4 consecutive months.

There are two ways to qualify for the RBC Direct Investing Royal Circle program. The average of the month-end balances from the past four months must be at least $250,000 per client, or a client’s equity commissions must be greater than $5,000 annually. Membership in Royal Circle is reviewed annually to ensure the qualification criteria are met. RBC Direct Investing reserves the right to alter the benefits at any time and to remove clients who no longer qualify for the program, without prior notification.

For Royal Circle and Royal Distinction members up to C$500 in transfer fees will be covered when you transfer C$15,000 or more from an investment account held outside RBC Financial Group to RBC Direct Investing. Proof of transfer fee payment must be provided.

RBC Direct Investing Royal Circle and Royal Distinction clients will have the following everyday administrative fees waived: RSP partial withdrawals; confirmation/statement replacement up to the previous 12 months; cheque request fees; dishonoured items; additional RIF withdrawals (maximum one per month); and internal transfers. We reserve the right to limit this offer.
