You Can Now Hold Foreign Currencies in Your Personal Non-Registered Cash Accounts

In addition to Canadian and U.S. dollars, you can now hold eight foreign currencies in your personal non-registered cash investment accounts.

Hold Hong Kong Dollars (HKD), Great Britain Pounds (GBP), Euros (EUR), Swiss Francs (CHF), Singapore Dollars (SGD), Australian Dollars (AUD), New Zealand Dollars (NZD) and Japanese Yen (JPY) in your personal non-registered RBC Direct Investing cash accounts.
Transfer HKD, GBP and EUR for free—online and in real time^{Legal Disclaimer footnote 3}—between your RBC Direct Investing cash accounts or your RBC Royal Bank foreign currency account (FCA) and RBC Direct Investing cash account.
Unlike Canadian and U.S. funds, online foreign currency transfers have daily limits per account as outlined below.

Fund transfers in CAD or USD from an RBC Royal Bank account to your RBC Direct Investing account using RBC Online Banking, Direct Investing Online Investing, or the RBC Mobile app are processed in real time between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 7:54 p.m. ET, seven days a week. Transfers into an RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the following day. Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account (Locked-in, Registered Retirement Income Fund, and Registered Education Savings Plan accounts excluded) to an RBC Royal Bank account are processed in real-time between 9:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday (excluding Canadian holidays). Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the next business day.

Online fund transfers in HKD, EUR or GBP are available for personal non-registered cash investment accounts only. Transfers from an RBC Foreign Currency Account to your RBC Direct Investing account using RBC Online Banking, Direct Investing Online Investing, or the RBC Mobile app are processed in real time between the hours of 4:30 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday (excluding Canadian holidays). Transfers into an RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the next business day. Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account to an RBC Foreign Currency Account are processed in real-time between 9:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. ET, Monday to Friday (excluding Canadian holidays). Transfers out of your RBC Direct Investing account made outside of these hours will be processed the next business day. Daily limits apply to real-time foreign currency transfers.
